Knicks Season... What to make from it from here?
Everyone that watches the NBA knows that the Knicks are having a terrible season and have had a horrible decade of basketball. Now that it is 2010 and a new decade has begun, where do the Knicks go from here? Well for 1, the Knicks have cleared enough cap space to sign a few high quality players. 2, they have a few players on the books for next year, which include big boy Eddy Curry, Toney Douglas, Wilson Chandler, and Gallinari. What Dantoni needs to do is play Chandler, Gallinari, and Douglas as much as possible because they are coming back for sure. Sergio Rodriguez is looking like a nice piece to re-sign as well along with E-House.
David Lee might as well stand at halfcourt because his defensive presence is unseen. Don't get me wrong he can rebound well and puts his body on the offensive player, but he puts little effort into trying to change the shooters shot. That is the main problem of the Knicks their interior defense and it was shown last night with a terrible loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. If the Knicks could have traded Al Harrington for Tyrus Thomas like they were supposed to, they would have had a good shot at making the playoffs because the Bulls were dumping, the Bucks aren't that good, and the Bobcats are inconsistent. Also they play in the East which means a 38-44 record would be good enough for the 8 seed.
What the Knicks need to do now that they have no shot at the playoffs is play David Lee a little less, give Duhon zero minutes and start playing Douglas at the 2 when rodriguez is in and put Douglas at the 1 when Rodriguez is not in. Dantoni should continue slowly working McGrady back because if he can somehow return to 3/4 of his old form he should be a steal next year since he will likely sign for veterans minimum.
As far as July 2010 goes, Knicks need to sign Lebron james or D. Wade and then a premiere center because like I stated above David Lee just doesn't cut it as a center. A possible 2010 lineup could be Rodriguez, T-mac, James, Lee, and Boozer. Tell me that doesn't sound like a contender.
